Psalms chapter
107, which teaches that one who was lost in a desert
but eventually found civilization; or one who was released
from prison or captivity; or one who recovered from
a life-threatening illness; or one who survived an ocean
storm has a special obligation to give thanks and praise
to God.
The text of this Psalm is written
here in 26 circles that form a mandala, a circular
design that changes like a kaleidoscope the longer
one gazes at it. The text begins with the circle in
the center, moves counter-clockwise around six circles
four times; and then concludes with the large circle.
A Star of David can be seen
in the spaces in-between the center circle, and the
six circles that surround it. This geometric design
is similar to the Flower of Life, a symbol used in
various mystical traditions.
The silver and gold on this mandala are silkscreen
printed, and are a limited edition of 250. The colors
are added by hand (and can be custom ordered) so that
each one is a unique and original work of arts.
